The second the “gun” went off, MHS Cross Country member, Chris Nance’s determination
was obvious as he blasted down the 1.8 miles course at the 2nd 3k of the series hosted by
the Hidden Valley Lake Milers. Chris kept up his fast pace and bested his own first place
record from the previous 3k (held September 22nd) by an amazing 34 seconds with a 10:58
( 6:05 minute/mile pace) finish.  Miler, Tyler Burnett, age 13 had a noteworthy 2nd place
finish with a time of 11:48 (6:33 pace).  The remaining lineup for the top ten male finishers
was as follows:
3rd place, Scott Johns (12:35), 4th: Jamison Walrath (13:02), 5th: John Graton (13:20), 6th,
Chris Nance Sr. (13:29), 7th: Roy Disney (13:36), 8th: Brad Talbot (13:39), 9th: Charles
Russ (14:37), 10th: Bill Vanderwall (15:08.)

MHS Cross Country member, Tasha Gibbs was the first female to cross the finish line in 13:
41 (7:36 pace).  2nd place female was Miler Jeanine Burnett with a 14:30 finish (8:03) pace.  
The remaining top 10 female finishers were as follows: 3rd place Alyssa Fusek (14:39), 4th:
Tania Nance (14:41), 5th: Kelsey Welton (15:25), 6th: Ashlyn Welton (17:41), 7th: Peggy
Landini (17:42), 8th: Mary Ellen Rudee: (17:51), 9th: Lisa Sobel (17:55), and Joanna Parker
(19:26).

The net proceeds of the event went to the Middletown High School Cross Country team.














The HVL Miler's President, Jeanine Burnett, presents a donation to the Middletown High
School Track and Field Team.  The proceeds were raised from the 2007 Spring Has Sprung
5K/10K Race/Walk















HVL Miler Leslie Weeks who along with her husband Dr. John Weeks hand-delivered school
supplies and clothing to Uganda earlier this year. The teachers are pictured wearing Spring
Has Sprung Race shirts from the 2006 event: "Teachers in Kiyoima Primary School in
Uganda were very grateful to get the clothes! The school serves grades K thru 7, is free, but
students have to buy their own supplies. They walk to and from school every day- up to 6
kilometers."

Hidden Valley Lake Milers Capture Wins at Literacy Run
















Sunday, October 15th dawned clear and crisp; and turned out to be perfect race
conditions for the Hidden Valley Lake Milers running club. The Milers turned out in
force to compete in the “Vineyard Run for Literacy” held at Steele Winery in
Kelseyville.  The race, hosted by the Lake County Literacy Coalition, is part of the
Steele Wines Annual Harvest Festival and focuses on raising funds for Lake County
Literacy programs.      

Top wins were captured in both the 5k and 10k by Milers John and Jeremy
Dedmond.  Jeremy Dedmond age 15 came in 1st Place Overall in the 5k (3.1 mile)
with a finishing time of 18:35 minutes (5:59 pace).  John Dedmond, age 17,
competing in the 10 k (6.2 mile) race, walked away with the 1st Place Overall victory.  
John’s winning time was 39:49 (6:25 minute/mile) pace. Miler, Lisa Mattson,
captured the 1st Place Overall Female title in the 5k, with a time of 27:02.      

The other Milers who placed in the event were as follows: Damon Mattson, 2nd Place
Overall 5k time 19:11 (6:11 pace), Pat Fadeeff- First Place 60+age division Female
5k (31:08), Bill Burnett-First Place 60+age division Male 5k (28:31).  Jeanine
Burnett, 2nd Place Overall Female 10k (49:46), Tyler Burnett 1st Place 10k Male age
12-14 age division (49:16).      

March 18, 2006
In the 5K race, Tyler Burnett placed 3rd in his division at the Fort Bragg Whale Run.  
In the 10K race, Jeanine Burnett placed 2nd in her age division with a time of 49:47.  
Lara Anderson placed 3rd in her age division with a time of 48:47.  Steven Carter
and Chiyako Ito also competed in the 10K race.

March 4, 2006
Four HVL Milers competed in the 30th annual Bidwell Classic.  In the Half-Marathon,
Anna Tyrrell posted a time of 1:57:27, and Jeanine Burnett completed the course in 1:
58:09.  Both finished the race under 2 hours and still had enough energy to go
shopping in the afternoon!  Tyler Burnett, age 12, ran a personal best of 26:16 in the
5K race and finished 82nd overall.  Way to go Tyler!  Damon Mattson placed 5th
overall and won his age group in the 5K race with a time of 18:36.

(WALKERS ANNOUNCEMENT)
The Hidden Valley Lake Milers Club is expanding!  We now have a walking group
along with our running group on Saturday mornings.  Same great exercise and
camaraderie, but at least one foot on the ground most the time! Winter Hours (thru
March) Runners and Walkers:
8:30am Every Saturday.  Hardester's Plaza (right outside Muscle Matrix Gym.)  
Come join our very friendly Club on a Saturday walk or jog and keep that winter
